Fractal Audio - Premium Presets - Pink Floyd
About free and Premium presets
Some of you might wonder what's the difference between Free and Premium presets and why the former are free of charge and the latter need to be payed, when they cover the same songs in more than one case.
There are several reasons, but here are the main ones:
- Premium presets are made to sound as close as humanly possible to the record in all aspects, from matching the sound and behaviour of every single amp and effect to replicating stuff like the exact delay times, delay/reverb mix, amount of compression/distortion per frequency band, volume and panning of each tone... and a lot more.
My goal here is to offer 'record-ready' and 'gig-ready' tones that require no or little adjustments. - Free presets, on the other hand, are not meant to sound as close, they'll get you in the ballpark but are just my own takes on those tones, done following my personal taste only.
- Premium presets contain scenes covering every single guitar tone heard in that particular song/album, while free ones in most cases just give you a handful of 'templates' to be used as a starting point for your own tweaking.
- Premium presets use multiple inputs and outputs for 'in-the-box' instrument switching and simultaneously feeding full-range speakers and traditional guitar cabinets.
- Premium presets also contain a detailed .pdf guide with instructions on how and where to use each scene and suggested settings for guitar volume and tone controls.
- As a consequence of all previous points, Premium presets require A LOT more work to be done, often in the order of several months, unlike free ones that were built in a matter of hours or days at most.
- Premium presets will be constantly updated after new firmwares and/or improvements made to them... and will also be updated for the new generation of Fractal devices once it comes out and will be in my hands!
